So sorry for such a late post! I know I have been gone for more than a week. Blame it on the weather. Or on my laziness. :) It has been a tiring week. I went back to work last Saturday. It has been a hectic week due to the enrollment. There are lots of things to do and people to talk with because of the new enrollment system that we are implementing. I am happy to report that this temporary craziness will be over soon. Yay! I also received a good news which I can't share yet. :D
Anyways, I believe that I owe you some photos and stories, like what I said
here. This is going to be a relatively long post but with photos, of course. Friends, meet US Navy Ship MERCY!

This is a hospital ship is here to provide medical services to some of the poor and war-torn areas in Mindanao. More information about this enormous ship and its noble mission can be read at its
official website. Before we toured this ship, an opening program was conducted at the port and I was able to personally meet Ambassador Kristie Kenny. She is a very lovely woman with a big heart for the Filipinos! She actually went around the greeted everyone before the program started.
Now, here's our Ninang Rose, my Mama and lookie -- me, onboard a fastcraft on our way to the ship. We belonged to the second group of those who toured the ship, along with some politicians and heads of agencies.

However, there is a faster fastcraft here. The speed of this thingy here is very impressive!

And here are some of the hospital beds where they conduct minor surgeries.

Here is the children's playroom located at their pedia ward.

This little resident of the pedia ward can surely brighten up the day of anyone.

Upon our return to the port, we were greeted by this long line. They are persons who are blessed to be availing of the free medical services of the ship. There were kids and babies. I feel for them and their parents.

I requested to be photographed with this uniformed guys just because of the cameras! I told this Mr. Soldier here to pose with us so I can show my husband how pretty those things he's holding and so that the Husband will have an idea what to buy me for Christmas. :D

We were privileged to be able to go to an elevated place and see this. Can you see that long thing? That's the USNS Mercy. Forgive my point-and-shoot camera but this is a sight to behold, especially at night.

And here is my most favorite photo of the day:

My relationship with my mother has not been good for quite some time. We have issues, yes, but I am thankful for this trip, it bonded us again. It's an affirmation that it is fun to be with her, plus I look good in this photo! LOL! Seriously though, we had misunderstandings but she is my mother. And I love her. And I am happy and proud to be her daughter.
Thanks to the American Embassy for the chance to tour the ship and meet some of their staff. We are lucky to be there. And our poor are privileged to be served by them.
More power to the USNS Mercy! 'Til next year!
