Food is What Stresses You Out About the Holidays
During the holidays, you tend to forget that there can be too much of a good thing.
Plus, there are so many good things to go around!

You tend to over indulge... and then indulge some more. Self control is not really an option for you.
And while you eat well, you don't like buying new jeans after the holidays are over!

Meet the Girls

These are the two girls who have been brightening up the Villanueva household his holiday season.
This one looks familiar, right? Haha! It’s my Kaela Therese.

Untitled-1d
She is lovely and cute and endearing and smart and I am biased. Haha!

This one

is Seanna Rose. She is the little baby that you can see here. Untitled-1hShe is Wes’ 1-year old niece. She has to stay with Lolo and Lola while her parents are adjusting to the arrival of her new baby brother named Rain Saiyan. Welcome to the family, little boy!

No gifts for these kiddos yet. We could have bought them swing sets if Lola’s house has a bigger lawn. Hopefully next year, Lola will have a bigger house and lawn to accommodate the growing family. Right, Lola? :)

Mall Rats No More?

Wes noted that we were mall rats last year. Almost everyday, you can find us at the malls here in Pampanga. We were hoarding and spending like crazy. Haha! However, this year is different. Lesser spending was due to the realization that we have been hoarding! Lesser days at the mall is because of our l-a-z-i-n-e-s-s! Haha!

Unlike last year, we had  a car to go around the cities and shopping centers. That made our life easy, I might say. Unfortunately, the car of Mark, one of my brothers in-law, is still at the repair shop. I believe that he still needs to scout for some car parts. We’re still waiting for it to get fixed after a car accident that it encountered last month. The car bore the greatest damage, leaving Mark unscathed. Thank God for that! Hopefully, the car will be in good shape early next week so we can shop and go and see friends and relatives in Manila without the hustle and bustle of commuting. ;)

The Flight

So we finally landed last December 19 at the Terminal 3 of the Manila International Airport. It was good place to land but the flight was horrible! It was a sunny but cloudy day so it was a bumpy ride! The air pressure was awful and painful! Good thing Therese was sleeping the whole time, thanks to Bonamine. We had to give her one an hour before the flight or else she will suffer from motion sickness. We learned our lesson the hard way since her first flight about three years ago.

We noticed one governor who got grumpy and oh-so-arrogant with an airline crew upon checking-in. Just because he was asked to present an ID card of his companions! That’s not so nice, Gov, considering her taxes are used to pay for your family’s vacation trip.

Upon boarding, we noticed someone who was given special attention by some people around. I asked Wes who he was and he said, a son of a politician-turned-actor and an actress. I wondered what his business was, visiting the city. Campaigning for his dad for the next election, perhaps? He was chatty the entire trip and I am pretty sure the cabin crew had a grand time exchanging notes with him about airplanes, flying, Ping Golf, among others. Of course, others can’t help but ask for photo opps with him. After giving him an over-all assessment I ignored him, since in the first place, I did not recognize him! Haha!

OK, I will stop being mean now. Don’t look for a photo of me with that actor because I don’t have one. Instead, here’s a photo of our smart girl:

Untitled-1j

She never fails to read the airline’s flyer whenever she’s onboard. I wonder if she understands a thing. Haha!

We're Here!

Tuesday, December 23, 2008

We have been in Pampanga since the 19th and I celebrated my 30th birthday the day after. I was looking forward to spending it with Wes, watching Twilight. Unfortunately, I caught a bug and spent the day inside the room to keep others from catching the bug too. I recovered about two days after. Yesterday, I was at the malls with Therese and Wes. Wes can't help but *look* at some one doughnut shops not because he wants to eat doughnuts but because they are offering promotional products when you buy a dozen or so doughnuts. We are certified hoarders but our greatest accomplishment that night was going home with just 2 pairs of slippers! That's self-control, man! LOL! We still have 1 1/2 weeks here and Manila and there are lots of malls to visit. So wish us luck!

There are lots of stories and photos to share but blogging is tough when you don't have your own Internet connection. Haha! So TTFN!

Still Alive!

Wednesday, December 17, 2008

Hey all! It’s been a crazy week but God and my friends have been so good to me and are helping me to get through it and come out of it alive! LOL! Thank you, Joniel, Roy and Ate Ces! Thanks to my ever supportive boss who understands that I need to be present during my daughter’s Christmas party and that I need to take the half day off tomorrow to prepare for our trip. Life is indeed good!

Anyways, have I mentioned that I had my hair rebonded? And my stylist (whom I trust so much) suggested that we go for highlights. I agreed and here’s my new look:

IMG_4759 Any violent reaction! Haha! Some were oohing and aahing over the new ‘do. And there were those who were not that pleased. But who cares! Haha! I am turning 30 and I love my hair! Haha!

Anyways, I should be packing our stuff now. I already started but I am far from being done. So wish me luck! And by the way, don’t forget to VOTE FOR ME, OK? Thanks to everyone who has been so kind and supportive!

Just Like His “Ate”

Sunday, December 14, 2008

A cousin of mine is looking forward to buying his first ever big purchase upon graduating from college and landing a job in a highly-respected company in the country. I understand his giddiness and excitement over purchasing a laptop. I should know because I was unable to sleep nights before I got hold of my laptop, courtesy of my ever generous husband. :)

However, my cousin’s budget for a laptop is limited. Thus, he is eyeing those types with limited memory. I advised him to save up for memory upgrade since like me, he would also want to work on graphic designing and try his hand on digital scrapbooking. Aside from a laptop, he will also invest on a good camera. Hmm…Just like “Ate” ha. Hehe.

Never Thought I Would Say This…

…but I love my job!

If there is one thing that I am very much grateful about this year is my new job. It gave me an opportunity to discover what I really want to do, influence lives and in the process, my life is being changed too. I have a very supportive boss. I am learning a lot from him and I can’t thank him enough for trusting me too much. Moreover, I am very much honored to be working with and for the welfare and development of our students. Daily interactions, consultations and meetings with our student leaders are life-enriching. More than the usual student leadership concerns, they share with me their personal stories. I am happy that they also see me as their friend. By the way, I bought them gifts today (ssh… They have no idea.) but those are just small things. How I wish I can afford to give them

Caribbean cruises!

Anyway, here are some of them in the photos taken during our annual university reach out where they served as facilitators.

There’s me in green. I was supposed to be attending a seminar that day. Good thing it was in the chapel and the reach out activity was at the nearby gymnasium. I intentionally wore my sneakers that day so I can run from the chapel and be at the gym. Surely, I was out the entire morning. Haha!

IMG_4705

And here’s another one of them with some of the gangsters. Haha! What’s so amazing about these gangsters is that they are soooo kind and nice with the kids. They had some disciplinary cases in the past but I was surprised and happy how they made the kids comfortable and happy during the reach out.

IMG_4724

Anyways, I know that there’s a lot more for me to learn in order to be very effective in this line of work. And I am all ready to learn! I am just to thankful that they made my first year an easy one. I will surely remember them all the days of my life.

He’s a Star in Her Eyes

My daughter adores me. She is a self-confessed Mommy’s girl. However, there are certain times when she prefers her Dad. In spite of the annoying ways that normally irritates her. Or aimed towards irritating her. One of those rare moments is when he is playing a computer game. One reason: He entertains her queries. Also, he explains how things work in the game. On the other hand, I don’t have the patience to do that.

Last week, I was playing this:
farm-frenzy_feature It’s an uber-cool game which was already mastered by her idol – The Daddy. She was behind me, watching every move and click that I did. She even told me to wait until scoring for every level ends for us to see whether I got a silver or gold award. And I was not surprised when I got lines with a general message: DAD PLAYS BETTER THAN YOU DO.  Haha! You better enjoy those moments, Babe! They come rare!

But despite that, no, you won’t catch me playing computer games while they’re asleep. Laughing

10

And I am in the middle of reading this:11

I might be a little bit late, I know. But I postponed reading them until I was done reading the Shopaholic series. Unfortunately, I haven’t seen the movie yet so I had to Google the cast’s photos for me to have an idea on how they look like. With their build and body, I would like to think that they’ve been taking alli. Haha! Well the books have not disappointed me. The story is great and the characters are awesome! I can’t wait to finish the entire series. :)

Acai Berry Diet

Friday, December 5, 2008

I’ve been sick for two days now and I tell you, it’s no fun at all. Though I have been sort of expecting this because of the stress and fatigue that I have been dealing with in the past weeks. And I am expecting that these will help me loose weight but it’s otherwise. Haha! So I am thinking of another natural way of loosing weight, thru the help of acai berry diet. This is fairly new to me so I researched and discovered that with the help of determination to loose weight (which I still lack), I can loose my belly fats as acai berry increases metabolism. It’s a whole lotta work but I believe it’s worth it.

This is a Rant

Thursday, December 4, 2008

I have nothing against singing. Videoke singing, to be precise. However, if you start it at 9:00 PM when almost everyone in the neighborhood is asleep or resting or having a quiet time, it’s a different story. I mean, why can’t you do it earlier when everyone is up and about? One household did this once. Must you follow after them and annoy the rest of the neighborhood? Hay So inconsiderate! I do like some people around but unfortunately, there are others who frustrate me. People who pile their garbage in front of others’ fence, people who make loud noises in the middle of the night, people who are minding their neighbor’s business. My mantra when they start to irritate me is: It’s better to understand than to be understood. Hay. It’s tough living here when you have to understand people who are older than you but behave like mindless adults. Hmp.

OK. Enough rambling. Back to our regular programming. ;)

No Christmas decors, no Christmas cards, no Christmas list YET! That’s so me! I already designed our cards but getting them printed is another thing. And I haven’t done my list yet. I usually shop for the kids – my god sons and daughters but goodness, I’ve lost track on their number! I need to write them down soon. And find time to shop for their gifts. Aside from that, a friend will be tying the knot very soon but I won’t be around to witness it . *sniff* She will also be having a simple shower party (which I will also miss so I will be leaving my gift for her – a sexy lingerie, to another friend). I am early on that one but still, December caught up on me again! *sigh*

For Lolo Saturnino

It’s the first day of December but I don’t feel like celebrating. A sad news got in saying that Wes’ maternal grandfather passed away early this morning. We were informed that he was rushed to the hospital yesterday and due to his age and illness, he finally left us. We are glad however, to be given a chance to meet him. He shares the same birthday with Therese and they used to share the same favorite song too – the Philippine National Anthem. Hehe. Unfortunately, we can’t go for the funeral and stuff. My loving mother in-law told me that we’ll just visit his grave once we arrive three weeks from now. *sigh*

Please pray for the soul of Saturnino. And Lolo, thank you for everything. We love and we’ll surely miss you.
