Fickle Mindedness

Sunday, November 8, 2009

Last week, my daughter and I attended her classmate’s birthday party. She had a blast joining and winning in the parlor games. She also enjoyed the toys and party bags being given away that night. The following day, she started thinking about her own birthday celebration (which is about 4 months from now). And our conversation went like this:

DD: I also want to celebrate my birthday there.
Me: It’s a bit expensive there.
DD: What about at McDonalds?
Me: It’s expensive too.
DD: (Getting a bit frustrated) So where can we celebrate which is not expensive?
Me: Home.
DD: (Too frustrated to reply so she just grunted.)

Haha! Actually, since last month, Joniel (a good family friend) and I have been planning DD’s birthday. We are that excited! Joniel was with me when we surprised DD during her birthday this year. Next year, we want to do something different. Something that will make DD very happy. But then…

Last Saturday was a friend’s son’s birthday. We celebrated it with a reach out in a barangay near the university. We provided food and party bags plus games for about 35 malnourished children there. And when DD learned about that special celebration, as expected, she wanted to celebrate her next birthday that same way!  Talk about fickle mindedness huh. :) So DH advised me to wait until her birth month before finalizing our plans.

But if her kind of celebration changes from time to time, her birthday wish doesn’t. A PS3! I told DH that since I will do the saving up and planning for our daughter’s birthday, he can take charge of his little girl’s birthday wish. :D
