The Leading Authority in Precious Metals Investment

Tuesday, August 31, 2010

One of my friends recently became interested in investing on gold coins. She believes that gold is more stable, thus, it is best to invest her savings on gold rather than keep her money in the bank. And she right. Over time, gold becomes more valuable. Compared to paper currency, it rarely depreciates. Just last week, she began educating herself regarding the ins and outs of investing on precious metals. She sought the help of the United States Gold Bureau – a powerhouse of skilled professionals in the field of precious metals investment. Their website is a rich resource of information for new investors like my friend. They have clients from across the globe and that makes them the leading authority when it comes precious metals investment.

Message from God

On this day of your life, Suzanne, we believe God wants you to know ... that you can fool others, sometimes even yourself, but God always knows your truth.

Uncomfortable, painful, even scary at times, truth is always better than lies. Remember, God always knows.

And it’s simply because He knows. Everything.

Investing Our Savings on Gold Bullion

I have been working from home for almost three months now and I can say that the rewards of a work-from-home mother has been great. Aside from being able to take care of my family full-time, I now have more time to earn from what I like doing.

What I have been earning, we usually set aside as savings but recently, we have been thinking of venturing into an investment guarantees a good ROI – gold bullion. But just like any other investment, we still need to learn more about precious metals investments. It is good that we chanced upon US Gold Bureau recently. They offer not only assistance to those who wants to invest on gold, but also useful information and tips regarding gold investment.

My1Stop.com: Customized Printing Super Store

I have been a fan of customized products. I have a USB hub, coin purse and a coffee mug which feature my favorite photo of my daughter. I also made customized key chains as gifts last Christmas but they arrived a little after the New Year even if I ordered them earlier and I was assured that they will arrive on time. That is why I am still in search of a Custom Printing company that offers a fast turnaround.

My search led me to my1stop.com – a super store when it comes to customized printing. They do not just offer a 3-day turnaround, but the prices of their services are very affordable too. Moreover, their upload feature makes it easier to get my custom printing project to them. Their products are also varied. Avail of their customized business card printing, Plastic Card Printing, promotional products, forms printing and many others. Ordering is made simple too. First, quote your product online. Second, complete billing and shipping and lastly, upload your artwork. So easy, right? Message from God

On this day of your life, Suzanne, we believe God wants you to know ... that true faith flowers from and through doubt.

If you never questioned your beliefs, - you are just a puppet dancing to somebody's strings. If God had wanted your mindless obedience, you would've been created without mind and without free will. But you have both so you can come to God of your own accord. Just look at the lives of saints, - most of them had gone through a dark night of the soul, and that's why their faith was so strong. The path to true faith always goes through doubt. So ask those questions you've always been afraid to ask, and find the answers, and then your faith will become unshakable.

Shopping for Clinique Products and Estee Lauder Makeup

One of the many things that bind my friends and me is our love for makeup. I remember the time when we ordered in bulk eye makeup products, makeup brushes and others during a big sale. With the quantity, you would think that we are going to open our own beauty salon! Some of us even made their own video tutorial on how to create a certain look. During that time, an aunt also gifted me with some Clinique makeup. I can say that that was the period when my makeup hoarding started. But I did put them into good use as I wore makeup to work daily.

But those were the days. For now, they are kept inside a big bag, since I have decided to become a work-at-home mom. What I usually use these days are my compact powder and some tinted lip balm. Not wearing makeup did not stop me from checking out some makeup stores like White’s East Hampton – the best source when it comes to Clinique products, Estee lauder makeup and other high-end makeup products. There are even fragrances which I can’t find at the malls. One remarkable thing about White’s East Hampton online store is their 30-day money back guarantee. If a customer is not satisfied with the product for any reason, it can be returned for a full refund.

VA Loans

“A Veteran is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a blank check made payable to "The United States of America" for an amount "up to and including my life".”

I am a grand daughter of a veteran, thus, I was touched when I read that from a website offering va loans. A VA home loan by the way is a guaranteed home loans for eligible veterans for the purchase of a home for their own personal occupancy. The guaranty is substituted in place of a downpayment which is a usual requirement to get a favorable rate. MyVaRefinance.net understands and appreciates the value of veterans and the service they have rendered for their country. I think that this is important because it shows how they value their clients and how dedicated they are in providing assistance to the needs of those who fought for their country’s freedom. MyVaRefinance.net has been in the industry for 10 years and they ensure that every va refinance and all new loans are handled with professionalism, courtesy and respect. They believe that those who served their country well deserves only the best. More information regarding va home loans and other services are offered at their website so make sure to check it out.

Wholesale Bags and a Lot More

Friday, August 27, 2010

A visit to the bags section of a mall never fails to delight me. Wandering around the aisles makes me forget my worries (and even my husband who patiently waits until I am done). If you can relate with me, most likely you are a woman. Most of my lady friends are into bag-shopping, whether it’s in malls, bazaars, boutiques and even online stores. It does not matter if the bags are designer pieces or not. As long as you are addicted to bags, you are one of us.

There are some though, who are wise enough to take this passion for bags into a different and profitable level – selling bags. Since the demand is high and there is ready market, profitability of this business is already assured. Sellers who buy wholesale bags at wholesale prices can greatly profit once their items are sold in retail prices.

Making Online Casino Games Educational

With the latest electronic device rolling off the market everyday – from smart phones to voice-activated navigation devices to motion-controlled video games for kids – it’s no surprise children are having a difficult time focusing on schoolwork. Luckily, just in time for back to school season, there are ways to incorporate your child’s learning into the latest technology they already love – even using online casino games, computer games and video games.

There are tons of great options for young children, from the Leap Frog series, which teaches basic academic skills like colors and numbers to games starring beloved characters like Dora and Big Bird that teach children vital social skills like how to be helpful and friendly towards others. Your young child is sure to find a favorite among all the options – and never realize she’s learning in the process!

For the older, middle school aged child whose hand is permanently attached to a video game controller, there’s options like Cogmed computer games. The company focuses on developing tools to improve working memory in children and adults, and has recently produced computer games for kids that actually improve memory and attention span in learning disabled children.
Online casino games can actually be great for helping high school-aged kids with quick thinking and short math skills. In fact, most teen boys love game nights with friends, and those late night poker sessions are actually sharpening their math facts and helping improve their PSAT and SAT math scores. Free online casino games – as long as they are supervised – can actually be a great fun learning tool.

Children and adults of all ages can work on improving balance and visual and spatial skills through motion-activated games that require the player to wear devices that pick up movement. The Wii console is popular right now, and even though kids can’t get enough, they are actually fitting in physical activity into their day without realizing it!

Silence is Golden

Message from God On this day of your life, Suzanne, we believe God wants you to know ... that silence is golden.

When we are quiet, we can hear God's messages to us. Sometimes these messages may be in the form of subtle intuition. Sometimes it may feel like an inner knowing. Sometimes we may hear a 'still, small voice.' If it feels right in your heart, trust that it is God speaking to you.

What is a Payday Loan?

Thursday, August 26, 2010

When you are in dire need of cash a week before your payday due to unexpected expenses like a minor house repair or computer replacement, a payday loan is something that can help you solve your problem. Applying for an online payday loan is simple and easy. Finding a payday loan company is just a matter of time provided your information and employer information are accurate.

But what is a payday loan? A payday loan is a low amount, instant and short term loan which can be processed and transferred to your account on the same day that you applied for it. Most often, these loans have a high interest and are to be paid back by your next pay day. Anyone can avail of payday loans. Some payday loan companies even offer payday loans to those with bad credit as there is no credit check necessary. All that they require is that the loaner must have a job and a bank account. The amount of a payday loan can range from a hundred to a couple of thousand dollars.

Applying for payday loans is very convenient nowadays, thanks to the Internet. Many payday companies can be found on the Internet and a quick search will prove that. Online application will only require a loaner to supply necessary information such as their name, address, bank details and proof of employment to process the application and have their loan transferred to their bank account within 24 hours.

Take note however, that it is best to pay back the loaned amount by the loaner on his next payday. Payday companies are flexible and allows extension when it comes to paying back but bear in mind that the interest of payday loans is relatively high and delaying of payment will make the payday loan more costly.

Five Advantages of Vacation Rentals

The Christmas season is near and for many of us, it is the ideal time to come together and travel as a family for a holiday vacation. Traveling as a family is a great way to bond together and enjoy new sights, sounds and tastes in a new environment. However, we all know that vacation trips can be expensive especially when we are traveling as a big group. During holiday vacations, staying in a hotel has been the conventional option but these days, one can opt for vacation rentals. Staying in a vacation rental during a holiday trip has several advantages. These includes:

  • Staying in a vacation house is more cost-efficient compared with the bills charged by hotels. You can save on expenses laundry, taxes, service charge and many others. Most often, a vacation rental features amenities like sports and beach equipment, books, DVD libraries, fully-equipped kitchen and many others. You and your family can enjoy these without additional cost.
  • Since you have a fully-equipped kitchen, you get to save on food because at rented vacation houses, you can freely prepare and cook food that you and your family can enjoy together.
  • You can also afford more freedom and privacy if you opt to stay in a vacation house because unlike in hotels, there are no other guests you share it with.
  • There will be less formalities like filling out of forms, following the check out time, checking and calculating bills and many others. Choosing to stay in a vacation house only requires you to fill out the vacation rental agreement and abide by the terms stated in it.
  • Lastly, if you are travelling as a big group, the rented vacation house will give you the freedom to stay close and enjoy your time together compared to staying in a hotel where you will be required to stay in various different rooms.

Goodbye Fever, Hello Rashes

My daughter has been absent from her classes since yesterday due to headache and fever. Yesterday morning, the headache subsided while her temperature returned to normal this morning. However, since she’s feeling a little bit weak, I decided to let her rest for another day. After taking a shower this morning though, she noticed some rashes on her arms. I am hoping that these rashes will disappear soon so she can participate in their school activities tomorrow. In the mean time, I need to consult a friend who works for an NC health insurance company regarding the best health insurance policy for my family. We badly need to avail of one very soon.

The Fan

Last Sunday, we rushed from the mall to home because of one reason: a basketball match between my husband’s alma mater and its archrival. Upon arrival, I immediately had my early dinner while he shuffled between setting up Auntie Rose’s laptop and watching the game. Yep, that’s him! Whether it’s basketball, atv racing, volleyball or chess, you are sure that he is glued on TV, watching it until the very end. Anyway, he came down smiling when the game was over. Obviously, his team won - 74-57. He is waiting for the next face off though he still has to check when that would be.

Playing Nurse

Last night, prior to sleep time, I can already feel that my daughter’s temperature was not normal. She complained of a headache upon arrival from school and she even slept earlier than usual. I woke up early but feeling her, she was indeed feverish and I decided to let her rest for the day. She woke up late and had few trips to the comfort room. She was cranky and clingy and cried a lot. It’s a good thing that I was able to convince to let me leave to buy her medicines. Unfortunately, a digital thermometer was not available at the nearest drug store. When I arrived home, I was surprised to see her awake and HAPPY! She refused eating but when I showed her her favorite donuts, she got excited and ate a piece right away. She usually gets bored when doing nothing so I allowed her to play on my iPod in between naps.

Tonight, she claims that her head is not aching anymore and it is evident. She has been active since noon time. She’s back into reading books and have eaten dinner. (And waiting until the iPod gets fully charged. She drained it!) She’s still feverish though. Hopefully, she will be fit enough to go to school tomorrow. I would not want her to miss some school activities. In Religion, they are going to have role playing where she plays as a mother of a bratty girl. Come Friday, they will have a culmination activity for the Buwan ng Wika.

So there. My day was spent playing nurse to a sick little girl. Hopefully, she recovers really soon.

Non-Profit Accounting in Pennsylvania

Tuesday, August 24, 2010

During my stint as a student affairs practitioner, one of my annual duty is to ensure that student organizations submit a comprehensive annual accomplishment and audited financial report to our office. I was reminded of him when I read about Maher Duessel - a regional public, Non-profit accounting firm with 70 professionals throughout Pennsylvania. It is committed on on providing comprehensive accounting and consulting services to clients in the government and non-profit sectors. But what is their edge over other accounting firms? It is their passion about their clients and mission – to pursue the profession while promoting the public good. This is made evident by the firm’s active involvement in missions and fund raising activities. Moreover, it allots a portion of its revenue to worthy causes and events. Moving: A Major Task

Moving is a tough task. I should know because four months ago, my family and I did a major move. Prior to doing the tasks involved in moving, I prepared by buying boxes, packaging tapes, big plastics, bubble wraps and many others. Since I was still reporting for work, I did all the purging, sorting, organizing and packing of our things and  others during the weekends. It was tiring but liberating. I was able to sort our things and purge those which are not really useful anymore. Some working students benefited from our purged clothing and shoes. Many toys and clothes of our daughter were given to a shelter for street children while some boxes of school and office supplies were donated to a parish office in the mountains. I was very careful though, that every box was labeled correctly. Or else, the things that should not be given away will be donated!

Anyway, on our last weekend at our rented house, we hired reliable movers to do the final task of transporting all our stuff to my parents’ place. Well they were not as good as the Tucson Arizona Movers that I saw at Billy.com, but they did their job to the best of their capabilities. What I like about Billy.com is that it has an online tool that allows individuals and families find a mover in particular US states or cities. It even offers useful and insightful articles on moving. It was through this website that my friend discovered Uhaul which was a major help when her family moved to another state last month. It is a one-stop company for moving – from moving supplies to moving helpers, Uhaul got them covered.

Stretching a Dollar with Coupon and Promo Codes

Saturday, August 21, 2010

My laptop’s battery has been acting up for almost a month now. My husband and I both agreed that it is high time that we find a new one before this one totally breaks down. It’s already 5 years old and I can’t afford to be without a laptop because my work greatly depends on it and the Internet. We have been searching the Net for possible replacements, deciding on whether buying from the same brand or trying another one. We are looking for something which has a reputation for durability and high performance. Of course, we are also considering the price because we can’t spend a fortune on one gadget alone. Our search led us to a website offering coupon codes for thousand of online stores. We found an HP coupon code  that made us consider HP. And that’s not all! They even have NewEgg promo codes which are perfect for acquiring other computer accessories, components and other gadgets like digital cameras, mobile phones and many more. It is a heaven indeed, for techies who wants to upgrade their gadgets.

For the home designing fanatics like one of my brothers in-law, the site also has Home Depot promo codes. With those codes, he can finally purchase those cool storage cabinets and rugs which he has been eyeing for for a a long time without hurting the budget. Isn’t that’s what coupon and promo codes are all about? Stretching a dollar while getting the best products.

Tibuk-Tibuk of Susie’s Cuisine

Friday, August 20, 2010

One of my brothers in-law, Asley, came home today for a leisure trip around the city with a friend. Before going back to Makati, they passed by the house to drop this:
Tibuk-Tibuk of Susie's CuisineThis is tibuk-tibuk, a richer version of the maja blanca. They bought it from the famous Susie’s Cuisine, home of quality native delicacies and pasalubong food items. It is made with carabao milk and topped with latik. The first time I got to taste this was during Ted’s graduation party/ house blessing. One of his friends gave a big bilao as a gift which we devoured in a couple of minutes. In fact, we did not serve it to the guests. Haha!

Hopefully, Wes and I can go visit Susie’s soon. This Sunday perhaps? I would love to try their other home-cooked meals. My first dining experience there was last April with Wes, Mark and Raquel who came to visit.

And, thank you Asley!

Found: Best Home Fitness Programs

Because of a health condition, I was advised by my OB-Gyne to lose some weight some months back during a consultation. I have been stalling but finally, I was able to start by doing a brisk walk one week ago. I intended to do it three times a week, per advice of one brother in-law. He also told me to do some workout aside from the brisk walking. So last Wednesday, I began my search on home fitness program since it is more cost and time efficient. My search led me to Power 90, the ideal regiment for beginners like me. For just 30 minutes of workout daily, I can burn fat and sculpt my body’s problem areas. It has six fun cardio and body sculpting workouts which are easy to follow. Aside from that, included in the purchase are the needed tools to help me keep track of my progress. There are even online classes for more fitness tips plus more freebies.

Then there’s the Turbo Fire Workout. It is a high intensity interval training, with a promise to burn up to nine times more fat than traditional cardio workouts. I would love to try this once I am done with Power 90 because it is more intense. Turbo Fire Workout includes twelve classes were made to make feel like I am doing a group exercise right here in my living room. But there is a New to Class DVD Option where I get to know the fine points of the class so I can achieve the best results in a safe and easy manner. A nutritional guide is also included that can be used in coming up with healthy meal plans. This is very important to get healthy and fit.

Since we have planning to hit the beach often in the coming months, I am also thinking of trying the Brazilian Butt Lift to boost my confidence when wearing a swimsuit. This workout training was developed by no other than a Brazilian fitness guru - Leandro Carvalho. What made this workout successful is the TriAngle Training technique that aims to develop the three major muscles of the buttocks for a firm and perfectly shaped behind.

September Birthdays

I was exchanging SMS with one of my best friends just this morning. She informed me that the theme for her son’s first birthday is not final yet. She is torn between three themes that she thought of just incorporating them all. The date is very near so hopefully, she can finalize it so that we can work on the details very soon.

Aside from this godson’s birthday, many other persons dear to me will also be celebrating their birthdays next month. I still need to make a list and find the perfect gifts for them. For a change, I am thinking of personalized gifts but September is too close that my orders might not arrive on time. Oh well. Let’s settle for gifts from the mall then. Hehe.

Technology that Aids Learning and Teaching

My work at the university entailed series of meetings with the different groups of students, mostly student leaders. We also facilitate workshops, conferences and symposiums to further enhance their skills and knowledge in leading their peers. I am thankful for technology because it has made our job in guiding these student leaders easier. We can easily inform them regarding an upcoming activity through mobile phones and emails. Our presentations are easily made, thanks to the computer. Moreover, during the conduct of activities, our inputs and lectures are easily presented, thanks to LCD projectors. The university has been investing on such technology to further enhance the learning experience of our students and to make our training and teaching experience less stressful. From what I learned, a student organization is planning to donate an LCD projector to our office and we are grateful. They have sent our boss an LCD projector reviews flier so he can choose the best projector that fits our needs. Hopefully, he can make his mind up soon so that our generous benefactors can place the order.

Tuesday, August 17, 2010

During one of our trips at the mall last month, my husband and I chanced upon the launching of the OMFLit book store at SM City Pampanga. I have been intending to buy some books at their online store and it’s a good thing that they have opened a branch near our place. Here are some of the photos we took:

Our Lola

Last Saturday was our daughter’s last day of periodical exams. My husband and I brought her to school and we had a breakfast date afterwards. We dropped by the market too, to see the store where we can buy our daughter’s girl scout uniform. Yeah, we already have a little girl scout in the house! She was telling me last month that they are going camping by October and I asked if I can join too because I will be sad being left and without her by my side, especially at night time. She will ask for her teacher’s permission first, she told me. Haha!

Anyway, we saw the store but it was too early so it has not opened yet. We proceeded then to visit Lola Ninay (Wes’ maternal grandmother) who is 81 years old. She used to visit us every Sunday after Mass, along with Auntie Rose.

We have not seen her for some time now because she has not been feeling well. It was a delight then to see and talk to her again. She complained about her health, being dependent on some medical equipment and being partially immobile.  She fell on her back last month, that is why. A lady keeps her company during the day and assists her in her needs. For her age, Lola’s memory is still very sharp. And we have been telling her that she should be present when her two grandsons -  Dudley and Tedley will be ordained as priests. By the grace of the Almighty, she’ll be there, she assured us.

And here is our photo with our dear Lola taken last month:

It was a Sunday when the three of us wore different shades of purple/ violet to church. :)

FYI, our Lola’s first name is Saturnina. Our Lolo? Saturnino. :D

Stylish and Functional

My Old Navy loots finally arrived and I have already distributed some of them to their rightful owners. Three more items are still waiting until I meet their rightful owners next month. I am happy because I was not only able to shop for myself but I also made friends and loved ones happy. I am grateful too, for friends who facilitated the shopping experience. Haha! I have no plans to shop just yet and my husband promised to replace my broken Bluetooth headset this weekend with a new one, but when I saw and read how nice (in form and performance) the new earphones that Glo bought for Aggie and Kaje, I was green with envy that I had to order right away! That is one of the reasons why we stick together – our fondness for functional and stylish stuff!

Forgiveness

My stand has always been, “How can I forgive if they are not sorry and not seeking forgiveness in the first place?” But it seems that God has been teaching me otherwise. I have been learning that when I forgive someone or anyone who hurts me, I am actually doing myself a favor. Because when I forgive, it means that I won’t be dwelling on the hurt and obsessing on ways to avenge my cause. It means I can enjoy my life and my loved ones and friends. It means enjoying peace of mind.

Custom Written Papers

Friday, August 13, 2010

I know that most if not all bloggers can relate to my experience. There are times when I do not feel like blogging at all. And it is not because there is nothing to write about. I just do not seem to have the drive or inspiration to blog. I learned a term that was coined to name this condition: blogger’s block. I know and understand how frustrating this can be especially when there are deadlines to meet. It is a good thing that this is only temporary.

For thesis, report and essay writers though, it’s a different story. Juggling school requirements, activities and sometimes, work, can be tough. In UK, help is being made available by professional writers for students who are finding it difficult to complete their academic requirements for varied reasons. Whatever the research, report or essay topic may be, their expert writers can provide a 100% plagiarism free paper. Every custom written paper is thoroughly scanned by their plagiarism checker. Moreover, a 24/7 assistance is made available through live chat, email, phone or fax. Help is assured 100% of the time. Security is also guaranteed because your paper nor your personal information is never resold or distributed to anyone at any time.

Dolls

Thursday, August 12, 2010

While I am writing this post, our bed where I am working is also occupied with toys. Lots and lots of toys. There are stuff toys, dolls, doll houses, tea party sets, soft balls and many others. Obviously, the girl forgot to fix them prior to going out of the room to get herself a glass of water. And judging from my previous experiences, it will take her an hour or so before coming back. So while waiting for her, I browsed through Etsy for dolls and here are some of my finds (which I know will delight her):

I’ll Take Care of You Video and Lyrics

This song has been playing on and on in my mind, LSS, I know. I first heard it in one of my bossa nova albums. I did a little research and discovered that Richard Poon has his own version of this song. Here’s the official video of Richard Poon’s “I’ll Take Care of You”.

And the lyrics:

I’LL TAKE CARE OF YOU

I'll take care of you
Don't be sad, don't be blue
I'll never break your heart in two
I'll take care of you

I'll take care of you
I'll kiss your tears away
I'll end your lonely days
All that I'm trying to say
Is I'll take care of you

I want you to know that I love you so
I'm proud to tell the world you're mine
I said it before, I'll say it once more
You'll be in my heart 'til the end of time

I'll take care of you
Don't be sad, don't be blue
Just count on me your whole life through
'Cause I'll take care of you

Don’t Wait for Inspiration.

Now this is the reminder that I badly, badly need:
I am a certified slacker. My husband and some of my close friends can attest to it. I usually wait for the right “inspiration” before I can start working on something – a blog, or a scrapbook page, cleaning up my workspace, or sorting my books or anything. I am now learning that if I want to accomplish more and be productive, I have to do away with this habit and start moving, with inspiration or without!

Finding the Best Degree and School

My long stint at the Guidance Center has allowed me to help incoming freshmen in coming up with sound decisions when it comes to choosing their courses. Many students have courses in mind when they come to our office for admission. But still, there are some who are undecided even if the opening of the semester is just some few days away.

College students are lucky nowadays. Aside from the help extended to them by the academe through offices like ours, they can also research online degrees to find the best course and college for them. Finding the right course and school is crucial since the student will have to work for that degree and stay in that school for 4 years or more. It is good that with just some clicks, they can find what’s best for them.

Gold Jewelries

We all know that gold jewelry never goes out of style. It does not tarnish, does not cause allergy and most importantly, it is beautiful. It is no wonder that many choose to invest on gold jewelries, including my aunt. I remember seeing her jewelry boxes filled with gold earrings, necklaces, rings and bracelets. She said that it is best to invest on gold because its value rarely depreciates. And financial experts agree with her. Other than gold jewelry, they also advice investing on gold coins and bars. It is an investment that won’t disappoint you.

If you are in search of a company that can help you with your precious metals investment, United States Gold Bureau is the answer. Its staff is committed to give you the assistance that you need in order to make a wise decision when it comes to investing on gold.

Friggatriskaidekaphobia

The word was derived from frigga, meaning "Friday" and triskaidekaphobia, or paraskevidekatriaphobia, a word derived from the concatenation of the Greek words ParaskevĂ ("Friday"), and dekatreĂs ("thirteen"), attached to phobĂa ("fear"). The term was derived in 1911 and first appeared in a mainstream source in 1953.

Personal Injury Attorney in Texas

On my home two weeks ago, I was saddened to see a vehicular accident that occurred at the middle of the high way a little after 7 o’clock in the morning. It involved a public utility vehicle (PUV) and a big truck.  Many motorists and commuters were agitated and anxious because the accident caused a horrendous traffic that morning. It seemed that no one got hurt though the drivers of the two vehicles were arguing on who’s fault it was.

I was reminded of that event when I read about the Texas personal injury attorney at O’Hanlon, McCollom & Demerath. They are committed to win the cases entrusted to their care with the use of aggressive trial tactics and strategies. They also make us of state-of-the-art tools and techniques to ensure the most effective action on the behalf of their valued clients. Furthermore, prospective clients can enjoy a free consultation by visiting their website.

Skin Care

I have been obsessing about moisturizing now that I am *gulp* getting old. I have two moisturizers for my face, one for my lips and many lotions and creams for the rest. However, I did not bother about SPF. I did not even know what that means. One of my moisturizers has SPF15 and I have a bottle of sunscreen (thanks to Mark, one of my brothers) that has SPF/ UVB50 but I just do not know (or I chose not to know) what’s the hullabaloo about SPF, UVA, UVB, etc.. But I am curious now so I did a little reading and this is what I found:

SPF
SPF stands for Sun Protection Factor. The higher the SPF number, the better protection against the sun's harmful UVB rays. The SPF number lets you know how much longer you can stay out of the sun without burning. For example, if it takes 15 minutes for a person to burn, an SPF 15 will allow them to stay out in the sun 15 times longer without burning.

The American Academy of Dermatology recommends wearing an SPF of 15 or higher for maximum protection. SPF is available in levels from 2 to 60. Does highest mean the best protection? Not necessarily. An SPF of 50 only provides 1% to 2% more protection than an SPF 30.

UVA and UVB Protection
The label of the sunscreen will indicate the UVA or UVB protection. UVA rays are responsible for the aging effect of the sun; however, overexposure to UVA rays can cause skin cancer. UVB rays are responsible for sunburns and skin cancer.  Choose a product that states, "UVA/UVB," protection or has "broad spectrum" protectant.”

So there. Now I understand that SPF/UVA/UVB protection is a must in order to protect myself from the harmful UVB rays caused by Mr. Sun. When shopping for makeup, moisturizers, lotions and sunscreens, I should be mindful of the SPF/UVA/UVB levels that these products have.

Edible Gold, Anyone?

For ages, gold has been used to adorn culinary masterpieces for its aesthetic qualities and symbolic power. Allegedly, it has magical properties too. These are the reasons why a

side from being considered as good investment in the form of gold coins and bars, gold is also infused into consumable products like chocolates, lollipops, wine, cigars and tea. Companies that produce such products claim that edible gold is safe when ingested and non-allergenic. Furthermore, both EU and US authorize the use of gold in decorating food products. Some companies have now ventured into infusing edible silver into candies, chocolates and cigars, thanks to the success of their creations using edible gold.

ON Loots

Tuesday, August 10, 2010

As I am patiently waiting for my Old Navy loots, I can’t help but to feel excited and anxious at the same time. My orders were placed in a small box, according to my friend, Kathy. This only means that they did not fit inside a big pouch. Furthermore, they are that plenty. The flip-flops, I mean. I ordered around a dozen pairs? I can’t remember the exact number. Haha! But five of them are for my daughter, my sister in-law and two friends. (It only means I have six or seven pairs for myself! Oh my!) I have other (surprise) stuff for my mother too, and a swim suit (which I hope will fit) for my daughter. Hopefully, the box of loots will arrive tomorrow. I can’t wait to see my flip-flops in all shiny ON colors. Hahaha!

I Create My Own Happiness

Thursday, August 5, 2010

I was trying to find an inspiration for a blog entry that I was working on at my new blog when chanced upon an Etsy. I used its search tab to find “SHOES” and here’s one of the search results:
Suzanne MilliusThis is an original illustration made by  Suzanne Millius (or studio3ten at Etsy). Now you know my second reason for posting this. Haha! The first reason is that her quote strikes a chord. :) Most often, we allow others to dictate our own happiness by relying on their approval and appreciation. When we don’t get it, we feel frustrated and miserable. It is important then that we know our value and that our happiness must depend solely on us.

The Life that I Have

One of the highlights of Chelsea Clinton’s wedding to longtime boyfriend Marc Mezvinsky is the reading of the official poem entitled The Life that I Have  by Leo Marks, a British poet. Marks was a cryptographer for the British during World War II. He authored original poetry which were coded with secret messages. He even taught spies to do the same. However, it seems that the origin of the abovementioned poem falls outside of Mark’s usual poems.

This poem was written on Christmas Eve 1943 in honor of a girlfriend who just died in a plane crash. The poem, however, was passed on to a French spying for the Allied Forces, Violette Szabo, with the hopes that she would use the poem’s structure and rhythm to construct future messages. Unfortunately, she was captured and died in a Nazi prison.

The Life that I Have

The life that I have
Is all that I have
And the life that I have
Is yours

The love that I have
Of the life that I have
Is yours and yours and yours.

A sleep I shall have
A rest I shall have
Yet death will be but a pause.

For the peace of my years
In the long green grass
Will be yours and yours
And yours

Where Facebook Found a Home

Monday, August 2, 2010

My cousin and I were video-conferencing last night when his son came to her that we had to end our chat. He was asking for her help in researching about the history of their place – Austin, Texas. So we said our goodbyes so she can help her student. But that assignment made me curious so I did my own research.

As the capital of Texas, it is the fourth largest city of the said state and the fifteenth in the United States. The city is named after Stephen F. Austin, the father of Texas. The presence of Texas State Capitol and University of Texas in Austin made it the center of government and education. Through the years, more and more technology and business companies made Austin their home, including the famous networking site, Facebook.

Despite the fact that Austin is a place buzzing with so much activities, it has been receiving citations from various organizations because of the highly commendable living condition that it offers. Many people have found a home in Austin, whether they are professionals, executives, educators, students or retirees. People who are looking into relocating to Austin would want to consider availing of the service of Goldwasser Real Estate – the number 1 residential austin real estate service. One of my closest friends in college will be tying the knot before this year ends. It is an exciting moment because he and his fiancée have been planning for this big event for almost three years now. A lot of things are still needed to be accomplished, he shared to me when we last talked. The number of tasks to be done can be overwhelming but he is fully aware that these are all worth it.

I have mentioned the news to our other friends and all of them share my excitement. We never thought that he will be marrying this late but we are all too happy for him. Prevention Not Cure

My husband was diagnosed with allergic rhinitis some years back. I did a little research and I discovered that this can be caused by allergens like dusts, molds, pollen, animal dander, etc. On the other hand, I am also an asthmatic. Call me obsessive-compulsive but these are the reasons why I keep our house extra clean, dust-free and mold-free than usual. We also try not to keep furry pets like cats and dogs at home. As suggested by our doctor, I am thinking of buying a mold test kit just to be sure that this house is safe and free from molds that can cause allergy attacks.

I am reminded of this task when I read about a Immunolytics.com, a company that specializes in test for mold. Their mold test kits were carefully designed to be used by anyone. Ordering is easy and secure. Once ordered, there are some steps that must be followed to get an accurate result. These include: plate preparation, testing and shipping preparation. Simple and easy. Like what an old saying goes, “Prevention is better than cure.”. It is better to invest on prevention rather than spending a fortune on treatment, especially when the diseases could have been prevented.
