Hello, Normal!

And here I am saying “hello” to our normal routine. The long weekend seemed so short, if you ask me! However, real life is back and I have started getting acquainted with it again by sorting through and reading my emails. Others, like those containing reviews for best weight loss pills can wait. There are some emails that need to be sent out too and I’ve already wrote a few. It really feels like a Monday, sans the gloomy weather plus a sick kid beside me. My girl woke up feverish and with a headache early this morning and I have been playing nurse. I hope and pray she recovers quickly as we have another busy weekend ahead of us!

Today…

Outside my window… a cloudy and gloomy day.

I am thinking… of getting ALL the work done as soon as I can.

I am thankful for… all things nice and beautiful. :)

From the kitchen… omelets, meat loaf and bread for breakfast. 

I am wearing… tank top and shorts.

I am creating… our December 2010 trip photo book.

I am going… to find some good rfid blocking wallets per a friend’s request.

I am reading… three books simultaneously: Don’t Sweat the Small Stuff… OMNIBUS, Children are People Too and Design Basics Index.

I am hoping… for an enjoyable and fun weekend. My family and I will be meeting and visiting some friends and the long weekend is the perfect time to see them.

I am hearing… street noise, noise, noise.

Around the house… the fan silently doing its job in keeping me cool, three huge stuff toys keeping me company, some books beside me waiting to be picked up and read again.

A few plans for the rest of the week: Accomplish my tasks and do all the errands by Friday and spend time with family and friends.

Checking In!

Hi everyone and happy Tuesday! I have been scarce around here, I know. I’ve been busy tweaking my digital scrapbooking blog and if I might say, I did a fairly good job! The scrapbooking mojo has left me for a while and as much as I tried to scrap, I have no created page last week. But this week is a different story, I hope! Yesterday, I was able to come up with two pages. Yay! That’s what old photos and new kits can do. Hahaha! Yes, I did a bit of shopping. Aside from that, I also started going through our backups. It’s refreshing to see old photos and scrap them (with new kits, of course!). I get a bit sentimental seeing them, especially those which are photos of my little girl when she was small and cute and chubby. I miss those days!

Anyway, it is going to be a busy week, scrapping-wise and otherwise. A good long weekend is ahead of us and the husband and I have plans on how to spend it. Exciting! :) So. All work must be done before Saturday (as always) so as to enjoy the looong weekend.

Nurse Licensure Exam Result for July 2011

A total of 37,513 Out of 78,135 Nurse Licensure Examination July 2011 examinees, 37, 513 passed. This is according to the Professional Regulation Commission. You can see list of passers of the July 2011 Nursing Licensure Exam here.  

Schools that obtained the highest passing rate of 100% are Cebu Normal University (Cebu State College), West Visayas University-La Paz and University of the Philippines (UP)-Manila.

Early Christmas Shopping

One of the messages of my girl friends at Twitter that made me smile last week was pertaining to how time flies. Soon, the “ber” months will be upon us and that only means Christmas is just around the corner! As early as now, I have started making my Christmas shopping list as I do not want to miss anyone. I also plan to do my shopping earlier and not when stores are busy, lines are long and POS systems are bogged down due to the volume of shoppers.

It’s a fact that accomplishing things as early as we can can greatly ease the load but I am still trying to practice that for about a month now. Last week, I have started my ordering gifts for my daughter’s teachers from ArtsCow. Aside from taking this task off my to-do list, I have also saved a lot, thanks to ArtsCow promotions! Hopefully by next month, I would be able to do more early Christmas shopping so that when December starts, all I need to do is wrap up the gifts and distribute them as early as we can because we are planning to go on a trip right before Christmas! Yay!

Wednesday, I Mean Thursday Happy Thoughts

The fact that I can’t do this on Wednesdays has long been established. {Wednesday} Happy Thoughts post then can be posted by yours truly any time during the week and it’s OK. Right? Right. Now that’s settled, et’s get thing going.

For this week, my happy thoughts include:

• Today being a Thursday. And it means tomorrow is a Friday! You know how I love Fridays when the husband comes home from a week-long absence due to work.
• Our daughter has fully recovered from her bout with coughs and colds. It’s her exams week and we can’t afford to be sick at this time.
• I have been scrapping aaaand…
• My ArtsCow photo books are bound to arrive very soon. I received emails from ArtsCow that they are being shipped this week. I can’t wait to see them (I have lots!) and I will share a picture once they arrive.
• The sun is out and laundry is done as early as yesterday. Yay!
• Our Shakey’s and gelato date last weekend. Looove Shakey’s! And it’s true, unplanned dates are the best dates!
• Movie dates which will hopefully take place this weekend.

WAHMish Thoughts

Productivity has been my issue for more than a year now. That’s how long I’ve been a work-at-home-mom (WAHM). Working in the academe for more than a decade, I can track and measure my accomplishments based on the number of programs we have implemented and meetings that we either conduct or attend. We also take into account the number of scholarships we have approved or aid we have provided. Household chores took a little of my time because rest and quality time with my family were far more important. Thus, laundry and ironing of clothes and house cleaning were done by a lady who comes during weekends while the carpet were taken cared of by a carpet cleaner similar to the raleigh carpet cleaning company that I read about.

But when I became a WAHM, the only job I can talk about now is either blogging or household tasks. Almost everything (excluding cooking) is done by yours truly. For a time, I used to think of accomplishing them to be insignificant. What made me appreciate them now? When I started making a list of things that I have to accomplish for a week and then breaking them down into a day-to-day list. They are big things, I realized. When I accomplish them, well, I feel accomplished! And my husband affirms by saying that getting them done is important. We do not like wearing soiled clothes, right? Besides, I do them with love and for the people I love. That makes those tasks more special. :)

Hey!

Well look who’s slacking! Yours truly of course. I have been out of the blogging hoop for almost a week and it’s not a news really, if you know me personally. Hahaha! Anyway, I have been hiding inside my graphic designing software, accomplishing some scrapbook pages. And I am very proud to say that I accomplished about 4 albums just in time for ArtsCow’s promo. It has let me save a lot in photo book printing. You better try it yourself by registering at ArtsCow for free.

A not-so-good news though is that I caught a very nasty bug last weekend, thus, I was in bed until yesterday. It started with a mild asthma attack on Friday. It’s been ages since I last had one. On Sunday, I was left behind when my husband and daughter plus a brother in-law attended the evening Mass. Monday, we had no choice but to see a doctor who prescribed some medicines that worked sans antibiotics. I am now better and I think I can go back to bringing and picking up my girl to and from school tomorrow.
