Bag Stain

Saturday, August 25, 2012

Happy long weekend, everyone! It is my most favorite day of the week as I need not wake up early. I can usually sleep until around 8 AM and get up at a later time to prepare a late breakfast for the family. However today, my phone rang very early – around 6AM. It was my friend and she was in panic and was not able to sleep because she stained her precious leather bag last night. So even though I was sleepy, I had to get up and open my laptop to help her find a good leather stain remover solution. We found some tips which she will follow and if they won’t work, she will buy a chemical that hopefully safely remove the said stain. After we talked, I went back to sleep and woke up later. I have to check on my friend again later to see if she and her bag are now OK and yes, I wish they are.

A good, sunny Friday morning from my neck of woods! My daughter and I woke up relatively late today but thank God, we were not late for school. However, I was late for the English Mass so I just dropped by the Church, said my prayers and passed by the wet market to buy some fresh produce.

It is going to be a very busy day as I prepare for a long weekend with my family and a special guest. Sure, I still have to work despite the long vacation but I am looking forward to cooking good food, dining out and some shopping.

Have a great weekend!

Simple and Affordable Ways to Spruce Up Your Homes

Friday, August 10, 2012

Time and energy should never be an issue when it comes to giving your home a new look. All you need is to think of small and doable projects that can provide your house that much needed oomph. Small changes can create a big impact in your homes. These can be simple replacement of fabrics or taking out and displaying seasonal collections. These are interesting ways to elevate your common space to highly creative.

One thing you can do is change your art frames to nature-themed or seasonal illustrations. For example, you can put up a nice painting of leaves during fall or a blown up photo of flowers when it is spring.

When it comes to furniture displays, you can use seasonal elements as displays. These includes acorns, birds’ nest and seashells. Find a way to display them in groups for aesthetic purposes.

Rugs can be helpful in sprucing up a room. Change your area rugs according to season. Use rugs made of jute during summer. If you do not have electric in floor heating, you can opt for rugs with shaggier materials in cooler months.

Do not discount the beauty that natural plants can contribute to liven up a room. There are lots of plants to choose from but make sure that they can thrive indoors. If natural light abound in your home, you can try to grow flowering plants inside. Choose flowers with bright colors and do not forget to plant them in colorful and unique pots for great design. For the kitchen, you can grow your very own herbs to not only make your meals taste great but also to spice up this room.

If you are entertaining, you can forget about matching sets of glassware. Instead, go for quirky or vintage mix and match glassware which can make a unique statement.

There are countless and inexpensive ways to spruce up your home without breaking a sweat or your budget. All you need to do is come up with small yet ingenious ideas to infuse design and color to your homes.

Preparing for Christmas

Monday, August 6, 2012

As early as last month, friends have started ordering Christmas gifts for their kids’ classmates and teachers. It is a good move, if you ask me, so that tokens and gift ideas suppliers like yours truly can prepare as early as now. One friend who is into stationery and cards design and printing is already gearing up for bulk orders on custom photo christmas cards which has been pouring in also. Prices for materials can get pretty steep during the peak season so it is best to buy in bulk now.

Stylish Bathroom

If only those renovating and home decorating ideas that I pin on Pinterest materializes on their own, my house is superbly splendid by now! I have several boards dedicated to decorating ideas, interior design and gardening and my Pinterest sure is overflowing with so many inspiration. Last week, I was inspired to consider a unique bath tub for our new house when I saw some really clawfoot bath tubs pinned by a friend. Aside from being functional, those are really stylish pieces that can liven up any  bathroom. And who does not want a beautiful room, right?

Rain, Rain Go Away

We have been enduring a very gloomy weather for more than two weeks now. Sure, we do get some sunshine occasionally but the dampness has been getting into my nerves. I could not do the laundry without waiting for like three days before they all get dry. Also, getting the kid to and from school is a hurdle. I can’t go around the city (and shops!) without getting wet.

But on a brighter side, I do enjoy the cold temperature. It helps us save on electricity bills and encourages longer sleeping time too. But still, I wish that I can have sunshine during the day and cold temperature during the night.

Eat Bulaga!

Friday, August 3, 2012

eat bulagaI rarely watch TV but when I do, it’s usually the news or an American TV series that I follow. Recently, due to the influence of friends, one of our samsung tvs is now turned on during lunch time as I watch Eat Bulaga! on GMA7. Indeed, it is a fun and feel-good companion whenever I enjoy my working lunch break. All segments are really enjoyable and the hosts do a very good job in making the show very lively. It is one of the reasons why I look forward to lunch time.
