DIY

These days, one of our favorite topics is planning about how to design the interiors of our would-be new home. We have started looking at websites, books and magazines. Yesterday, my daughter saw a back issue of a home magazine and told me about it. I bought it of course. It featured a lot of ideas about home furnishing and designing on a budget. One article that caught my attention talks about how the homeowner recycled things and used them as furnishings. A big tree in his backyard fell during a strong typhoon and he used the trunks to create wakeboard racks, a table and some stools. Cool! He reminds me of my father who is a DIY man. Some of our cabinets at home were made by him. I can never be as good as him but hey, I can change a light bulb and whack a door knob to remove it. Hahaha!

Thursday, October 17, 2013

Recently, I accepted a commissioned project which was both challenging and fun. It was my first time to make such products (out of polymer clay) and it was good that my client was creative and considerate – she pitched in ideas of her own and was kind enough to consider my capacity to create and trusted my own ideas as well. Apparently, they are throwing a baby shower for her friend with a theme: popcorns, lollipops and BBQs. I researched and made prototypes, asked for her feedbacks and ideas and here's the photo of our finished project:

I am absolutely proud of these handmade polymer clay souvenirs! They were fun to make and per my client, she and her friends liked them too. That is certainly is one of my main goals – to make others happy with what I create.
